I want to purchase some images… but how can I use them?

Customers have to possibility to purchase digital images from my shop. The file(s) will be available to you immediately after purchase via a private link (valid 3 months). The resolution that is offered – 2 megapixels (2 MP) – is suitable for sharing on the web, by email and for small prints to about 15cm x 20cm.

There are watermarks on the larger images that you see on this site. Unfortunately, this is a necessary evil to deter image thieves. However, the images you purchase will not have any watermark.

When purchasing an image from me you are agreeing to what is called a “rights-managed license“. Customers are granted specific usage rights for a limited time. The main benefit of this license is that it allows unlimited, personal use of the image for a period of 3 years. During this time, you can utilize the image for various personal projects, such as digital albums or home décor. This flexibility ensures you get the most value out of your purchase without any restrictions on the number of times the image can be used within the set timeframe.

In addition to unlimited digital use, you are also allowed to print copies of the image for your own personal use. Whether you wish to create framed prints for your home, photo books, or other personal mementos, you are free to produce as many printed copies as you like. However, it’s important to note that this right is strictly for non-commercial purposes and limited to personal enjoyment. None of my images are to be resold or redistributed, including using them as derivatives for other works, such as “memes”, collages, calendars or packaged with other products. Please note that the examples cited above constitute a non-exhaustive list.

Personal use is defined as your use only. Specifically, you cannot share the image with friends or family members for their personal use as well.

If you plan to share a purchased image on social media platforms, you are required to provide credit to me as the photographer using the reference [image: www.tedbyrne.com]. This helps maintain the integrity of the work while allowing others to appreciate the creator behind the image. Failure to credit properly would be a violation of the license agreement, so please ensure that proper attribution is given in your posts for purchased images.

Lastly, the license you purchase does not extend to corporate, journalistic, or commercial uses of the image. Any such use, including for marketing campaigns, advertisements, internal corporate use, or media publications, is strictly prohibited under this agreement. If you wish to use the image for these purposes, please contact me directly and I will be happy to discuss alternative pricing options for a commercial license.
